back to school shopping and gnats

Tucker starts school in a little over a week and a half! Ah! Can't believe my baby is going to be a first grader!

Today, it was Missouri's state-wide sales-tax free day for back to school shopping. Tuck desperately needed new tennis shoes, so I took him along with me to do the shopping. We started at a resale/consignment store for kids. Found him a pair of Nike shoes, but they won't fit for another 2 years lol. We got them anyway cause they looked great and were only $7.99!

Next, we went to Target for shoes and clothes. Still no luck with shoes, but got him some cute shirts. He was certain he was starving at Target, like grabbing at his stomach, making faces, and groaning out of pain. So, I took him to get a hamburger and fries at our local hamburger joint. It's called McDonald's, maybe you have heard of it? I got a mango pineapple smoothie(reminds me of mango a-go-go at jamba!) and small fries. We just ate in the van. I love hearing all of his random thoughts. :-)

He was so excited when he figured out how to recline the seat. :-)

I always thought he kind of looked like me.... But now I am convinced! Twinners!!

Next, we headed to Wally world to get the last few supplies I had not gotten yet. I wish I would have brought my baby Bjorn carrier to put tucker in. I feared I was going to lose him in the madness.

Last but not least, we went to the shoe store I had originally refused to go to. We went in, we came out, and we conquered. No, I wish it was that easy actually. We went in, and there were people crawling everywhere. At one point, I literally had a man's butt on my head at one point when I was helping Tuck try a pair of shoes on. His butt. I was trying to cram myself ever further into the merchandise to escape, but there is only so far you can smash into a wall of boxed sneakers. I had a Thanksgiving dinner in celebration of his travels to a far off island of Reebok's.

It was crazy in town today. Like, literally. That is all i can say. I don't know if the no-sales tax is worth the chaos! I enjoyed Tucker's sweet company though. :-)

----------------------------
Being the produce lover I am... We tend to get a few fruit flies here and there. But the other day, it was ridiculous. We had quite a few in our garage by the trash can, and when Ryan took their beloved food source to the dumpster, they had no where to turn. Except.... to the interior of our house. I was going nuts. Everywhere I turned, they were there. Bad, bad, BAD dream. I turned to pinterest. The last time I tried though, it didn't catch too many. This time, I went a more simple route. I did without adding overripe fruit and saran wrap.  I only used apple cider vinegar with a few drops of dawn dish soap. Stir it up in a cup, leave it open, and BAM!  This was how many I caught within a few hours!

Apparently, the gnats love the smell of the vinegar, and are attracted to it pronto. But once the soap residue gets on their wings, they can't fly, and drown. Kind of sad, but not really. I am a very happy lady!

This is the bottom of the cup by the way. :-)
