fitness recaps

what i did 2 weeks ago:

monday-rest day
tuesday-1 hour bootcamp class at gym, 1 mile speed run at 9:20 (PR)
wednesday-1 mile walk, 6.4 mile treadmill run (6.2 miles in 60:12)
thursday-rest day
friday-rest day
saturday-6.2 mile treadmill run
sunday-rest day

pounds lost- 0, 1lb gain
pounds to go-5 lb

holy crap. that 6.4 mile run killed me! that was the farthest i had run in maybe forever? i was sore for a couple days after. but then i wasn't as sore after my saturday run. i was pretty excited at the end of that week. i have never been a distance runner. ive always been more of a sprinter. so, at the beginning of the week, i was curious to see (since i am running a 10k) if i can actually run a 10k. i decided i was going to try to run 6.2 on wednesday. and i was proud i did it! it was good to get a starting point and see where to go from here. my knee was achy afterwards though. i think i should start icing it after i run. i asked mackenzie's pediatrician and then a pharmacist if i could take glucosamine for my knee (since i am nursing), and they didn't have a definative answer. they haven't really done studies proving its safety, soooo im just not going to take it until after mackenzie is done nursing. overall, this week left me feeling pretty confident that i can finish the race with some dignity. : )

im bummed that my weight isn't really going anywhere, just floating up and down +/- a pound. but its alright. i feel stronger, and i feel like i look a little more toned, so ill take it. what is frustrating is i think my butt is getting bigger? im a little confused on that one... my jeans are getting a little snug in the rear. so, *note to self, keep butt growth under close watch...

what i did last week:

monday-rest
tuesday-rest
wednesday- denise austin core complete dvd
thursday-rest day
friday-3.8 mile outside run, .7 mile treadmill run, 1.5 mile walk, 5 mile spin
saturday-rest
sunday-REST

weight lost-1 lb
pounds to go-4 lb

well, as you can tell, there were a lot of "rest" days last week. i had 3 sick kiddos and a hubby who got his wisdom teeth out at the ripe ol' age of 28! so, i got in exercise when i could and when i felt like it. i was super excited to go on my friday run though! i decided last minute thursday night at like 11:30 to go running at 630 in the morning with a girl from my church stake and her friend. i went with them when mackenzie was like 2 months, but i was wayyyyy out of shape and couldn't keep up. so i didn't go again. ive been wanting to run outside, and i am a wimp and dont like to run by myself. i was excited she accepted my self-invite to run with them : ) it was awesome because a. it was great to run outside and not stare at a wall, b. they were fun to talk to, c. they threw some fun things into the run like high knees, squats, and 2 sprints, and d. i actually was able to keep up with them! although, the more i think about it... maybe they were just slowing down for me ; ).
