pounds to go- 5
i have a dailymile.com account where i can log my workouts for the week. i haven't had the computer much the past 2 weeks due to ryan needing it for work. so, ive been posting my workouts at the end of the week. for some reason, its not getting my dates right, even if i go back again and try to correct it over and OVER again. so, disregard the dates if you are following my workouts on there as well.
it seems like i am either doing well in one area one week, and lacking in another, and then vice versa the next week. so, this week i was happy with the weight lifting that i did, but i didnt do as much running as i would have liked. im alright with it though. working out with kids is difficult! with working out and being a mom, you win some and you lose some. at least for me anyway. so, as long as im staying active, i know ill be alright. some day i wont have my kiddos here to interrupt my workouts, and that will be a sad day!

a good book and traditions
image from amazon.com
so, FYI, that there is a good book! it has hundreds of awesome exercises for specific muscle groups, as well as some premade weight lifting/toning/basic cardio routines created by different trainers. there is some key nutrition information thrown into the mix for good measure! this book was recommended by one of my professors at BYU, and i figured i would just give it a go. boy do i love it. if i dont feel like figuring out my own game plan, it definately has some of my favorite go-to routines in it. i actually got it on amazon.com for an awesome price! i think like 7 bucks?! so, if you are looking for some help and guidance, or even just looking for some more exercises to incorporate into your normal routine, then this is a good book to invest in. love it!

christmas traditions...im just writing my thoughts, so just work with me here: )every year since we have been married, we have rotated, every other year going to each other's house for christmas. ryan's family has traditions-one of which is gingerbread houses. my family has traditions-watching national lampoons christmas vacation. but we are all getting older, family dynamics are changing, and i want to start traditions with just our little family, for just us to do together, even when we are with our extended families. i made christmas pajama pants for the kids this year, and they have been wearing them since dec. 1. i think im going to start doing that from now on! i was initially going to give it to them christmas eve, but then i thought, what the heck. im not going to slave over christmas pajamas when they are probably going to wear them just a handful of times. and a tradition was born- christmas pajamas starting december 1.
we try to not watch any tv on sundays except for uplifting movies, aka our wedding dvd : ), jonah veggie tales dvd, and a few of our church dvds we have (and not all in a row, hah). one simple tradition that i think would be great since the kids beg to watch movies on sundays is to show the LDS nativity dvd on the sundays during december. it is a great way for the boys to SEE what we are reading about in the scriptures. Cole loves seeing baby Jesus. So, the past 2 sundays, when they woke up from their naps, i popped that sucker in the dvd player. and all i can say is i am so incredibly grateful for that sacred night when our dear Savior was born. it is truly a miracle. as i hold my sweet baby girl during this holiday season, it makes my heart fill with gratitude for that tiny little body that was born in a manger. i cannot even comprehend how mary was feeling. i imagine her being so overwhelmed with love, and peace, and awe, that this sweet, angelic Baby she gave birth to would be the Savior for the world. i am grateful for His birth, his perfect life, and His resurrection! let's not forget the reason for the season! im going to try to remember to serve others a little more, for that is what Christ would do.
i talked with my friend Carolee today about holiday traditions. she mentioned a friend of hers does the 12 days of christmas starting 12 days before christmas. each day someone (or it could be everyone i imagine) in their family picks someone they know and does service for that person. i think that is a great idea!
some other fun activities or traditions i want to do is to homemake cookies with the kids for santa, and donuts for the elves : ) i got that idea of pinterest. soooo stinkin cute. u just take cheerios and dip half of a cheerio in chocolate and then add sprinkles. dip another one in powdered sugar, and leave another one plain. i want to buy twas the night before christmas, and read that to the kids before bed. acting out the nativity would be fun too! i just dont know if the boys would really get into it or not. caroling might be fun too! but... not sure about that with the little ones yet either.
what are some of your family traditions?! i want some ideas! : )

weekly fitness recap 7

this was after i finally got her to sleep late one night. i love sleeping babies!! ps. done mind the lifeless face of mine. i was delusional. several nights of not sleeping well will do that to ya : )
soooo this week wasn't so great exercise-wise. we think mackenzie is teething, well... because her doctor said she was starting to, and shes drooling, chewing, and crying like crazy! plus she is not wanting to go to bed for the night until like midnight or so because shes so uncomfortable. plus, on monday, both of my boys started getting sick, and it just went downhill from there. short story long, it started off with bark like coughs for both of them that turned into loose-phlemy coughs and fevers. when i took them to the doctor, she said they had croup (a virus) and that tucker had pneumonia in his left lung (bacterial) so they put him on antibiotics. anyway, they were sick all week and didnt sleep good which means mommy didn't sleep good. and to top it off, i got sick last night. thankfully it was short lived. now we are all starting to feel better. YAY! SO, here's to a better week for us all this coming week!
what i did this week:
- monday-rest
- tuesday-30 minutes of the firm cardio overdrive dvd
- wednesday-the firm cardio overdrive dvd
- thursday-walk around the house for 2 hours straight trying to calm mackenzie down ; )
- friday-rest
- saturday-rest
- sunday-rest
pounds lost-1
pounds to go-5
i was pretty excited that i lost a pound. i have to contribute it to better food choices/portion sizes. PLUS my new fascination with sewing is keeping me occupied enough that i am not snacking like crazy. : ) i can totally pinterest with one hand while eating with the other. sewing and eating on the other hand is a little more difficult to manage. : ) hey, there could be something there.
so, i told you i would post how i got into the fitness world, but im tired, all my kids are asleep, and i want to snuggle with my cute man. so, i promise now that everyone is feeling better, i will post that story this coming week.
