so, FYI, that there is a good book! it has hundreds of awesome exercises for specific muscle groups, as well as some premade weight lifting/toning/basic cardio routines created by different trainers. there is some key nutrition information thrown into the mix for good measure! this book was recommended by one of my professors at BYU, and i figured i would just give it a go. boy do i love it. if i dont feel like figuring out my own game plan, it definately has some of my favorite go-to routines in it. i actually got it on amazon.com for an awesome price! i think like 7 bucks?! so, if you are looking for some help and guidance, or even just looking for some more exercises to incorporate into your normal routine, then this is a good book to invest in. love it!

christmas traditions...im just writing my thoughts, so just work with me here: )every year since we have been married, we have rotated, every other year going to each other's house for christmas. ryan's family has traditions-one of which is gingerbread houses. my family has traditions-watching national lampoons christmas vacation. but we are all getting older, family dynamics are changing, and i want to start traditions with just our little family, for just us to do together, even when we are with our extended families. i made christmas pajama pants for the kids this year, and they have been wearing them since dec. 1. i think im going to start doing that from now on! i was initially going to give it to them christmas eve, but then i thought, what the heck. im not going to slave over christmas pajamas when they are probably going to wear them just a handful of times. and a tradition was born- christmas pajamas starting december 1.
we try to not watch any tv on sundays except for uplifting movies, aka our wedding dvd : ), jonah veggie tales dvd, and a few of our church dvds we have (and not all in a row, hah). one simple tradition that i think would be great since the kids beg to watch movies on sundays is to show the LDS nativity dvd on the sundays during december. it is a great way for the boys to SEE what we are reading about in the scriptures. Cole loves seeing baby Jesus. So, the past 2 sundays, when they woke up from their naps, i popped that sucker in the dvd player. and all i can say is i am so incredibly grateful for that sacred night when our dear Savior was born. it is truly a miracle. as i hold my sweet baby girl during this holiday season, it makes my heart fill with gratitude for that tiny little body that was born in a manger. i cannot even comprehend how mary was feeling. i imagine her being so overwhelmed with love, and peace, and awe, that this sweet, angelic Baby she gave birth to would be the Savior for the world. i am grateful for His birth, his perfect life, and His resurrection! let's not forget the reason for the season! im going to try to remember to serve others a little more, for that is what Christ would do.
i talked with my friend Carolee today about holiday traditions. she mentioned a friend of hers does the 12 days of christmas starting 12 days before christmas. each day someone (or it could be everyone i imagine) in their family picks someone they know and does service for that person. i think that is a great idea!
some other fun activities or traditions i want to do is to homemake cookies with the kids for santa, and donuts for the elves : ) i got that idea of pinterest. soooo stinkin cute. u just take cheerios and dip half of a cheerio in chocolate and then add sprinkles. dip another one in powdered sugar, and leave another one plain. i want to buy twas the night before christmas, and read that to the kids before bed. acting out the nativity would be fun too! i just dont know if the boys would really get into it or not. caroling might be fun too! but... not sure about that with the little ones yet either.
what are some of your family traditions?! i want some ideas! : )
