i am trying to figure out my schedule for going to the gym. i like going to the gym and i would totally go everyday. the dilemma is i don't like dropping the kids off everyday to have someone else watch them... every day. i dont mind doing it a couple times a week, but i just am attached to my wee babes and i want to be with them as much as i can. so, i think my goal will be going to the gym 2-3 times a week. and at this point, i like planning my own workouts, but the good ol' dvds are helping me push myself a little more. i think dvd's are an excellent way to get some activity into your day! especially if you are feeling unmotivated, don't have a gym membership, don't know where to start, or have bad weather. before i got a gym membership here, i would rent fitness dvd's from our local library to try new videos and see if i wanted to purchase any. i rented anything from yoga to more of an athletic training type dvd. i enjoyed the variety! not to mention, i got in great shape right before my sister's wedding... all from doing workout dvds! so, check out your local library if you are needing somewhere to start! i really like dvd's from denise austin, the firm, and women's health. all great options!
when i had tucker and cole, i was out at byu as a student. i naturally had a pretty active lifestyle due to all of the walking all over campus. i was able to get away with not working out every day. mackenzie is almost 6 months, and i feel like it is taking a little bit longer to melt away these last couple pounds. i have been thinking that i dont have a very physically active day if i dont exercise. i wore my pedometer a few weeks ago to try to see if i was right. our apartment here is a decent size for a duplex and i do chase my kiddos all over the place, but i was thinking it was not enough to make a difference. the pedometer only confirmed my thoughts that i dont get much physical activity throughout a normal day. bottom line, i have got to make sure i get SOME kind of exercise as many days of the week as possible if i want to have not only the benefits of confidence in my appearance, but the MANY many health benefits associated with exercise.
on another note... i cannot get old. i will not let myself! well... i guess i can't control that. but really though, i really really really dont want to let my body age. i want to be that crazy 80 year old lady running races. i know that i can accomplish this goal if i just continue to take care of the body I have been blessed with. i am SO grateful for my amazing body God has given me. all of my anatomy, physiology, biology classes, ect. that i have taken only strengthened my belief in my Heavenly Father and His creation of man!!
