Fit n' Firm Friday: Calves and bootcamp workout

Fit n' Firm Friday: Calves

Alright, so your calf muscles are made of two muscles, the gastrocnemius and the soleus.

For more anatomy of the calves, take a peek here. I love calf muscles! I think they are so attractive when they are well-defined. Something to remember when you are working out your legs, is that there are in fact those two muscles making up your calves. You might be overlooking one of those muscles-usually the soleus, during your workouts. To make sure that you work them both, make sure you do a variety of calf exercises, in a variety of positions. For example, try to do calf strengthening/toning exercises with straight legs, as well as with your knees bent. Straight leg calf exercises, such as calf raises, will work mainly the gastrocnemius. On the otherhand, if you do bent knee calf raises, you will work the soleus muscle. Include some bent knee calf exercises starting in your next leg workout! Continue to work the soleus, as well as the gastroc, and you will see some great results in your lower limbs!
